'Criminal Minds' Season 11 Episode 17 Spoilers: Joe Mantegna-helmed Episode Airs This Week

The highly anticipated brand new episode from CBS' hit police procedural drama TV series "Criminal Minds" Season 11 airs this week. The upcoming segment happens to be under the direction of the show's cast member, Joe Mantegna, and will tackle a curious case of abduction that happens while the parents are asleep. Meanwhile, Morgan (Shemar Moore) continues to find the truth about his own disappearance.

According to the synopsis shared over at The Futon Critic for the episode appropriately titled "The Sandman," the criminal profiling branch of the FBI will get wind of news about an UnSub codenamed "Sandman." It so happens that the perpetrator is abducting children around town and this occurs while their parents are fast asleep.

It's a mystery how the man or woman was able to pull it off without catching the attention of the elderlies. For those who are not familiar with the Sandman mythology, the said mythological entity is infamous for sprinkling magical substances into the eyes of the victims to keep them in their heavy sleep. The eerie situation will prompt the team to track down the culprit, save the poor kids, and perhaps prevent any further abduction.

While this investigation takes place, Derek Morgan will pursue the people behind his own abduction and torture. For those who missed it, the agent was kidnapped in "Derek" by a group of criminals whose identities are still unknown to him. During his ordeal, fans were able to take a deep look into his past. It was revealed that he had been abused when he was a kid.

The trauma from this experience will reportedly take a toll on the life of the operative. It will be interesting to find out how he will be able to exact his revenge on the people who wronged him. Of course, his teammates will be there to monitor him, given the fact that his unstable emotion might affect his judgment and actions.
