Cristin Milioti is a name "How I Met Your Mother" fans are clamoring over after the actress' debut on the television series on Monday night.
Already a Broadway star with the hit musical "Once," Milioti has now earned widespread fame almost overnight with her role on "HIMYM."
The actress landed the coveted role as the long-awaited mother on "HIMYM," and was revealed during season eight's finale episode on Monday night.
Throughout all eight seasons of CBS' hit television series, the narrator and lead character Ted Mosby explained to his children and viewers the story behind how he had met their mother.
However, it took all eight seasons and over 300 episodes for the unveiling of the mother.
Toward the very end of the season finale, Milioti's character was seen at last while buying a ticket to the fictional town of Fairhampton on the Long Island Rail Road.
More importantly, the new character was carrying a yellow umbrella- the key clue Ted mentioned while referring to his future wife.
It is presumed that Milioti's character will attend the wedding between Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Colbie Smulders), where she will meet Ted.
Now that the mother on "HIMYM" has been revealed, fans can look forward to learning more about the character, but not until season nine begins this fall.
In the meantime, "HIMYM" fanatics can learn the backstory on how Milioti landed the long-awaited role as the mother. A co-creators of the show, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, opened up about casting Milioti.
"It was exciting," said Bays, speaking to Entertainment Weekly.
The 27-year-old actress was a great fit for the role as the mother on "HIMYM" due to her musical background on Broadway.
"We've already established that she's a bass player in a band," Bays said of Milioti's character. "I think there will be a musical component to her character, and that was definitely a bonus feature."
As for what else fans can look forward to out of the mother, the co-creators remained mum. Read the complete interview here.
Meanwhile, Milioti's other credits include an appearance on "30 Rock" as well as in Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf on Wall Street" where she portrays the first wife of Leonardo DiCaprio's character.
