Cyndi Lauper 'Hot' Tweet Deleted by Congressman Steve Cohen

Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn) is getting another lesson in social media after the congressman posted an unusual message on Twitter indicating his fondness of 1980s music icon Cyndi Lauper.

"@cyndilauper great night,couldn't believe how hot u were.see you again next Tuesday.try a little tenderness," Cohen wrote on Twitter.

But after roughly 20 minutes the post was deleted from his account, according to The Washington Post.

A representative for Cohen confirmed it was the congressman who sent it, but declined to comment further about the tweet. Cohen took to the House floor on Thursday to express his enjoyment of attending the Memphis Soul night.

"While there were a lot of great performers there, I want to put a particular shout out to Miss Cyndi Lauper. She's special," Cohen said. "I would suggest to my colleagues in the other side they ought to try a little tenderness on occasion," he added.

This is the second time Cohen has made headlines for his use of Twitter. The congressman recently revealed that the young woman he was caught texting during the president's State of the Union address was his long-lost daughter, whom he learned about only a few years ago.

Those tweets were first spotted by Politwoops, a site dedicated to rooming the Twittersphere and archiving tweets of public figures. Rumors began to spread shortly after that the woman was his girlfriend.

To quell the rise in misinformation, Cohen, who is a lifelong bachelor, organized a private meeting with a few members of the media where he explained who the woman was in relation to him.

"I Googled her mother, found out she had a child and the math looked pretty accurate," Cohen told reporters during the private meeting, according to a report from NBC. "The mom told me we had a lot of catching up to do."

The woman, identified as Victoria Brink, sent the congressman a tweet after she noticed him on television at the President's address, to which Cohen replied:

"Pleased you are watching. ilu" Cohen tweeted, followed shortly after with "nice to know you were watchin SOTU. Happy Valentines beautiful girl. ilu."

The "ilu," shorthand for "I Love You," is what prompted questions regarding the relations of Brink to the congressman. The tweets were deleted only a few minutes after they were posted, but by then they had already been archived.
