Dallas Mavericks NBA Trade and Roster Rumors: Devin Harris Unsure if Mavericks Would Bring Him Back

Devin Harris has always been one of the Dallas Mavericks' most reliable role players off the bench. However, age and injuries have taken their toll on him over the years. Harris is no longer the speedy point guard fans knew and loved during his first stint with the team and his production has declined steadily in the past few seasons.

The Mavericks have a $4.4 million team option on Harris for next season, but it seems that the team has not given him any guarantees that they are planning to pick up the option this summer.

In an interview with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Harris admitted that he might have played his final game with the Mavericks.

"Obviously, it's a team option. The ball is in their court, but they haven't given me any indication," Harris said during the interview.

"I think going into the summer, the draft and free agency kind of plays a part first. And we'll kind of see where it is from there," he continued.

Earlier this month, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told the Dallas Morning News that they want to add a pass-first point guard in the offseason. They have a lottery pick this year and they can use it on Kentucky's De'Aaron Fox or France's Frank Ntilikina.

If the Mavericks select a point guard in this year's draft, Harris would become expendable and they might opt not to bring him back.

Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle doesn't know if Harris will be either, but he appreciates the things the veteran guard has brought to the table during his two stints with the team.

"I don't know at this time exactly what management's view is. I'm the coach," Carlisle said, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

"Devin has been one of the great soldiers that I've had here in this organization and in this locker room, fighting for this team," he added.
