English soccer star David Beckham has found himself mired in controversy following reports that he had an affair with U.K. singer Katherine Jenkins.

The 37-year-old Los Angeles Galaxy player denied the reports of an affair through his publicist, and Jenkins, 32, immediately took to social networking site Twitter where she slammed the rumors.

"Dear Twitter friends, I've read some horrible rumors on here & want u 2 know I absolutely deny I've had an affair with David Beckham," Jenkins tweeted. "The rumors are very hurtful, untrue & my lawyers tell me actionable."

"I've only met David twice: once at the Military Awards in 2010 & on a night out in the West End in Feb 2012," another tweet read. "We were out in a group of friends & it was just a normal fun evening out."

"Just so we are clear I have never been on my own with him and never arranged to meet up," she added.

Rumors of an affair reportedly first emerged when Jenkins moved to Los Angeles to appear on ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" in early 2012.

A representative for Beckham, who is no stranger to cheating rumors, blasted the allegations as "rubbish" and "nonsensical," according to the Telegraph U.K.

In 2004, the father of four was accused of cheating on his wife of 13 years Victoria Beckham, 38, with his personal assistant Rebecca Loos.

The 35-year-old model claimed that she and Beckham had engaged in a long-term affair and in one public interview even rated his bedroom performance. Beckham denied Loos' claims.

"Yeah, he was good. He looks like he'd be good. You can usually tell," Loos told Zoo magazine. "Eight, eight and a half. And very confident. It's nice when a man is confident in the bedroom."
