DC Extended Universe: 'Suicide Squad' May Hit Fans' Expectations

Make room for upcoming DC Extended Universe films

The DC Extended Universe is already getting hit with unfriendly reviews for its newest offering "Suicide Squad," which will be opening in cinemas this August 5. Yet, fans have been feeling rather optimistic with the Wonder Woman trailer released at the recent Comic Con 2016.

"Suicide Squad" fans are getting less hopeful on the box-office outcome of the DC Extended Universe film, according to Time. But because of the film's heightened media coverage the past few days, things are going to get really interesting when the film finally airs in the US today.

The DC Extended Universe still has a few more movies in the works, with the "Wonder Woman" film showing next year. There's also rumors of Warner Bros. doing a Harley Quinn spinoff, as well as an exclusive Batman movie, with no release date yet.

Talking about the DC Extended Universe movies, apart from "Wonder Woman" - "Justice League" is also coming out by November 2017. By 2018, fans would be watching "The Flash" and "Aquaman" plus Shazam and Cyborg, by April 2019 and 2020, respectively.

On the other hand, "Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins said that Suicide Squad was actually GREAT! and was wondering where the negativity was coming from. Coming from Jenkins, there is a chance fans would have a different set of views after watching the movie themselves.

Anyway, Yahoo!  also points out that Warner Bros. may be doing either two things to make it work for the rest of the DC Extended Universe movies. It could be that the movie studio would have to start polishing its projects which are already in production or towards the end of filming, or Warner Bros. may need to let go of some of the DC Extended Universe's future movies.

While The Hollywood Reporter also shares its verdicts on the already released DC Extended Universe movies like "Iron Man," "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice," and "Man of Steel." In behalf of Suicide Squad, their review said that the movie is restricted to its PG-13 rating and in part a shortlisted attempt by Warner Bros. to redeem the overwhelming budget of the DC comics movie. However, the movie loses its creative bearings towards the end.

Meanwhile, other media sources think that Suicide Squad is well-equipped enough to outdo sky-high expectations. With a team of crime-fighting super villains and an ensemble cast, we are as excited as watching Suicide Squad as part of the DC Extended Universe, knowing its the bad guys doing the good deed this time around.
