'Deadpool' Movie News: Sequel Already In The Pipeline
With the firm belief that "Deadpool" fans will not get enough of the movie after it opens this weekend, 20th Century Fox has already given the green light for the sequel of the movie incarnation of the Marvel character.
The Hollywood Reporter said that "Deadpool" is expected to rake in at least $65 million this coming four-day holiday weekend. Hence, producing a sequel for the movie should not prompt its critics to raise their eyebrows.
According to the report, Fox intends to keep the original creative team of the movie for the sequel. Hence, if things proceed as planned, "Deadpool" director Tim Miller will still helm the sequel. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who scribed the movie's story, are said to have started squeezing their creative juices for the sequel.

The Hollywood Reporter also mentioned that completing the "Deadpool" movie didn't come easy for Reese, Wernick, Miller, and even "Deadpool" star Ryan Reynolds himself. It noted that Wernick and and Reese's remaining on board during the entire production is a feat by itself as, conventionally, the system is to change writers, especially those who come with a high price tag.
Reese and Wernick also penned the script for the hits "Zombieland" and "G.I. Joe: Retaliation"
"Deadpool" is an R-rated action comedy movie that brings to life the Marvel Comics character. He is part of the universe of X-Men heroes licensed by Fox.
In the movie, Reynolds breathes life to the character of Wade Wilson/Deadpool. He is a mercenary who earlier underwent regenerative mutation to have his cancer cured. However, the process resulted in him having accelerated healing powers. While the powers are a welcome, it turns out that they are not the only result of the procedure after all, as it causes him terrible scarring and drives him to a level of mild insanity, too.
Meanwhile, Reynolds disclosed in his recent interview on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" that the reason why Fox greenlighted the movie was the overwhelming reactions they got from the fans after a test footage leaked some years back. Reynolds was suspected for leaking the video, but he refuted it and said:
"I know that one of us did it… there's four of us: me, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Tim Miller the director. We all said at the beginning that someone should leak it, so the idea was planted, but I'm 70 percent sure it wasn't me."
