Deion Sanders Contemplates 'Failure' After Divorce Announcement

Deion “Prime Time” Sanders has written about “The Gift of Failure” on his blog, just days after plans for a divorce from his wife of 12 years was revealed to the world.

Although Sanders did not specifically mention his divorce, he spoke about learning and reflecting from experiences that did not work out.

“Usually, our greatest life lessons come through our worst experiences. No one ever sets out to fail,” Sanders wrote. “Well, at least you and I haven’t. There are no best-selling books on ‘10 Steps to Failure,’ but everyone who has ever found success has had to walk through the waters of failure.”

The NFL hall-of-famer spoke about moving on from the negative perception of failure brought about by others.

“Like Judas, some of them are close enough to dip with you then turn around and KISS you. They’d rather see you in the “Hall of Failure,” Sanders wrote. “However, we must LEARN from our failures and not LIVE in our failures.”

Sanders has recently been dealing with people’s reactions to the failure of his marriage and the terms to his prenuptial agreement that mandated he buy ex-wife Pilar an expensive home.

In their prenuptial agreement, TMZ reports that Deion must buy Pilar a house that matches the current family residence – a ten bedroom, 9 bath Texas home listed at $21 million.

Although Sanders has yet to participate in any interviews concerning the failure of his marriage, he released an official statement about the matter recently.

"Pilar and I have decided to end our marriage and move on to the next phase of our individual lives with mutual respect. We are friends and our top priority has and will continue to be the well-being of our children," Sanders said. "We arrived at this decision prayerfully and carefully in order to be able to pursue what is in both of our best personal interests."

Sources told TMZ that Pilar has been on the quest for a new home since Thanksgiving. The soon-to-be ex-wife and mother of Deion’s three children has been looking for a home within the $9-$12 million range.

Despite media reports, the former NFL star spoke about the importance of learning from past missteps.

“Learn from your failures, and you’ll be able to teach others how to succeed,” he wrote “That way, failure becomes the gift…that keeps on giving!”
