'Destiny 2' News and Updates: Upcoming Game Arriving on PC; Will the Sequel be an Entirely New Game?

The beloved online first-person shooter video game, "Destiny", is getting a sequel. This time, PC gamers can now join the fun in the different worlds of "Destiny 2".

New PC Support

It is clearly no secret that Bungie and Activision, the game's developer and publisher, respectively, are working on a second installment for the beloved franchise. What is surprising though is the inclusion of the PC as an additional gaming platform for "Destiny 2". The original version was exclusive to consoles, to the dismay of many fans who had invested on stellar PC specs.

The report came from a leak stating that Activision itself told its employees that "Destiny 2" will also be published on PC. It has also been reported that the publisher is working with Vicarious Visions, a game developing studio that Activision owns. This company was also responsible for producing other hit video game franchises such as "Guitar Hero" and "Skylanders".

Slated for a 2017 release date, the confirmation of a PC compatibility for "Destiny 2" will effectively boost its audience reception due to a broader market. This would be a welcome change for the gaming community, as "Destiny 2" would now be able to run on at least one more platform in addition to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

New Gameplay

Aside from the addition of a new gaming platform, "Destiny 2" will also see drastic changes in its entire gameplay. This is largely thanks to the new leadership directive for the sequel to feel more like a completely different game. With this revamp, "Destiny 2" will be leaving old planets, characters, and even some activities from the original game behind.

To further iterate this point, there has also been a report saying that the developers are actually starting from scratch. This move actually puts developers of "Destiny 2" in a very tough situation as they need to completely overhaul the game, but still need it to be somehow cohesive with the previous iteration.

One of the new activity models in "Destiny 2" would be the play-in destinations. This would give new world functions to the game. This feature would essentially make the planet areas in "Destiny 2" to virtually be more populated in towns, outposts, and quests. This will consequently lead to a more interesting and pleasant activity than the original "Destiny" patrol missions.

It looks like "Destiny 2" are in full-on progress as it has been reported that Bungie has dedicated more than 700 employees in the development team. It has also partnered with other studios like High Moon and the aforementioned Vicarious Visions to finish the game in the targeted 2017 official release.
