'Diablo 4' News, Updates: Has Blizzard Run Out of Ideas for a New Installment?

The BlizzCon in Anaheim, California last year was indeed welcomed by fans of some of Blizzard Entertainment's games such as "Overwatch," yet people are still waiting for news about the possibility of having a "Diablo 4." As such, gamers are growing impatient, and are losing optimism in its development.

From what's happening, it looks like such an installment may still be far off, if not non-existent. According to Blizzard Corporate Operations executive vice-president Gio Hunt, it looks like they are sticking with the existing "Diablo 3," and that they still have plans for its world, Opptrends has learned.

"We are very happy with the 'Diablo 3' universe, and we continue to produce a lot of free content for it. And now soon, we'll have the Necromancer, a whole new character class being introduced, some time probably middle of 2017 — we don't have a specific date on that yet," Hunt explains.

This may be a good content for the fans to indulge in while waiting for what everyone has been clamoring for. For some players, however, it appears it just wouldn't be enough.

According to Telegiz, this is causing doubt with the fans if there will truly be a "Diablo 4" in the future, or if they are made to wait for nothing. Some are already thinking of placing their interest in other titles, as it seems there is no concrete evidence that something is coming up soon.

While a lot are demanding for a new installment to come, Polygon, on the other hand, thinks that it is no longer needed. The publication pointed out that the fantasy world has been exhausted to its limits, and pushing it further may actually spoil what is already a good game that could go down in history as one of the great titles.

That being said, the wait for "Diablo 4" remains in limbo.
