The Jersey Shore’s Pauly D announced he signed a deal with rapper 50 Cent on Thursday.
The odd pairing puts Pauly D under 50 Cent’s G-Note record label that focuses on dance and pop music.
50 Cent said Pauly D was a “great addition to G-Note and G-Unit family” and called him smart and creative.
Pauly D, born Paul DelVecchio, has continuously announced his passion for music through the reality hit television show “Jersey Shore.” He is also known as DJ Pauly D, as the 31-year-old reality star began his career as a disk jockey at 16.
“It’s a big deal for the ‘Jersey Shore’ DJ, who’s even living and working in Las Vegas and having the time of his life,” said Mary Smith of website Newsoxy. “This is the guy that has it together in comparison to the other cast members who will probably drift back to their former lives prior to joining Jersey Shore.”
The turntable enthusiast is getting many bookings as a DJ, with the help of the success of his time spent on “Jersey Shore.” Expanding his base, he joined Britney Spears for a few dates on her “Femme Fatal” tour as an opening act.
Delvecchio is also the first housemate from Jersey Shore to receive his own spin-off show.
The show will reportedly focus on his DJ career as he tours America. Filming will start in 2012.
"We're guessing Pauly D got the spot [instead of Snooki or The Situation] because he genuinely seems fun and easy to get along with. He's not known for diva antics like The Situation and doesn't appear a drunken mess at times, like Snooki and Ronnie do," said TIME.
DJ Pauly D already has music available for consumption.
In 2010, he released a single, "Beat Dat Beat (It's Time To)," that was released on iTunes.
