'Doctor Who' Season 8 50th Anniversary Fan Art Exhibition

Season 8 marks the 50th anniversary of BBC hit show "Doctor Who," and a three-day celebration as well as a special episode of the show are planned. While details of the celebration have mostly been kept secret, one event has been announced: An art exhibition of fans' memorabilia at the National Media Museum in London.

The Museum is asking for fans to contribute their own personal "Doctor Who" memorabilia to be used for the exhibit. Curator Toni Booth is asking fans to contribute what they have, and explain why they have it.

"Do you have a Doctor Who chess set? Ever knitted your own Dalek? Have you still got that Cyberman helmet in the attic? These are exactly the kind of objects that might go towards creating this new exhibition," Booth explained.

It isn't just hard-core collectors of expensive rare items who are invited to participate.

"We would like to use examples of Doctor Who memorabilia from the past 50 years - both official merchandise and more personal homemade objects - the kind of things which show a fan's love for the Doctor. We want to know why you have this object, when you got it, and your feelings towards Doctor Who then and now," Booth continued.

The exhibit is meant to be not only about "Doctor Who," but about the fans as well.

"We would really appreciate as many fans as possible getting in touch to help shape this exhibition, which will be highlighting the people who watch the show," Booth explained.

For instructions about how to submit your "Doctor Who" memorabilia, visit the National Media Museum's website here.
