'Dog the Bounty Hunter' Returns With New Series, New Channel

Fans of "Dog the Bounty Hunter" will be pleased to know he has found a new home on CMT after being dropped by A&E. Duane "Dog" Chapman and wife Beth will star in an unscripted series set to premiere in spring or summer next year.

According to a press release, the new series will follow the Chapman's "journey into the American heartland to help fellow bail bondsmen and bounty hunters struggling with their business of catching fugitives on the lam."

The Chapman family came to fame on A&E for their passion in finding and bringing fugitives to justice. While Duane "Dog" earned his nickname for his tenacity and remarkable ability to locate fugitives, his family has helped every step of the way and has made it a family business.

After A&E canceled further production of the series, CMT made the move to bring the Chapmans to their channel.

"This is a game changer for CMT," Jayson Dinsmore, EVP of Development and Programming for CMT told Comcast.net.

"We were aggressive in our pursuit of a show featuring Dog and Beth, one of the most bankable teams in television history. We couldn't be happier to partner with Electus and Dog and Beth as they move forward on the next chapter," he continued.

The couple originally from Hawaii will now come stateside for their cross-country tour, and fans could not be happier with their return.

"I am so happy to see this, not only is it a great show but Dog and Bet are great people who really care about everyone … and really try and reach people that are lost! This is wonderful news and I will be watching!" posted KSLA reader Curtis Self.

The Chapman family has a unique way in trying to help those they bring in to authorities. Instead of merely dropping them off at the precinct, Dog or Beth will speak one-on-one with the felon and try to provide hope or encouragement before she or he enters the justice system.

"I'm thrilled that they are coming back to TV! I never missed any of their shows! Our country needs good honest people like them to catch these thugs! And protect us! I feel safer now! The whole family are great! Welcome back!" added user bjkyle72.
