Donald Trump, real estate mogul and television personality, recently restated his opposition to same-sex marriage, adding "it's not my thing one way or the other."

Trump made the announcement during an interview with controversial radio talk show host Howard Stern on his Sirius XM show, "The Howard Stern Show," on Wednesday.

"Donald, go on the record," Stern said, asking Trump: "You're for gay marriage."

"Well, I'm not," responded Trump, shocking both Stern and his co-host, Robin Quivers.

"It's never been an argument that's been discussed with me very much. People know that it's not my thing one way or the other," Trump added.

Trump, who entertained the idea of running for the GOP presidential ticket in 2012, has only occasionally spoken on the topic of same-sex marriage.

In May 2011, Trump addressed the issue, saying that although he does have several gay friends, he considers himself a "traditionalist."

"I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist," Trump said at the time, in an interview with The New York Times.

Additionally, in an interview with Fox News in February 2011, Trump said he did not favor gay marriage, and he was in line with most conservative principles.

"New York is a place with lots of gays, and I think it's great. But I'm not in favor of gay marriage," Trump said in the Fox News interview.

However, some, such as actor George Takei, have previously said they believe Trump could ultimately end up supporting same-sex marriage.

Takei, an openly gay actor who occasionally appears on "The Howard Stern Show" and who also appeared on Trump's television show, "Celebrity Apprentice," previously wrote on his Facebook wall in December 2012 that he had dined with Trump, who told him he "attended a same-sex wedding" and that he found it "beautiful."

Trump, 66, has become a popular American celebrity due to his outspoken nature and business ventures in real estate, as well as his role on the NBC reality show "The Apprentice."
