EA News: On the Visceral Games Shut Down and the Upcoming 'Star Wars' Game Title

Best known for their work in the "Dead Space" trilogy, Electronic Arts' (EA) Visceral Games Studio has ramped up quite the reputation in the last few years. However, recent reports have revealed that the parent company is shutting the studio down.

Considering that they are in charge of the upcoming "Star Wars" installment, fans are concerned that the release might be canceled after months of hype and excitement. Fortunately, EA's executive vice president Patrick Soderlund was quick to respond to comment.

"It has become clear that to deliver an experience that players will want to come back to and enjoy for a long time to come, we needed to pivot the design," said EA's vice president Soderlund in a statement, as reported by Polygon. "Importantly, we are shifting the game to be a broader experience that allows for more variety and player agency, leaning into the capabilities of our Frostbite engine and reimagining central elements of the game to give players a Star Wars adventure of greater depth and breadth to explore."

Soderlund has also revealed that they will be maintaining the visuals and the authenticity of the game, as the developers pour in their focus and hard work on bringing the story of "Star Wars" to life. As for the staff at Visceral Games Studio, EA is working to transfer all the employees in other projects within the company.

EA Worldwide will also be taking over the "Star Wars" project and continue on what the previous studio had already worked on.

As part of the company's mission to overhaul their development process and teams, the "Star Wars" title's release date has been delayed. It was originally supposed to be released between April 2018 to March 2019, but it looks like it will take a while before fans are able to experience the effect of the internal changes that were implemented at EA.

There is no official release date of the game title as of yet, but fans are expecting more information in the months to come.
