Beverly Hills Cop 4 Movie and TV Series News: Eddie Murphy Gives Updates

Recent rumors pointing out to the next "Beverly Hills Cop" movie indicate that Paramount Pictures is set to shoot the film this March. But franchise lead actor Eddie Murphy said otherwise.

The 53-year-old had a conversation with Playboy.com in which he informed the publication that unless the studio is able to get the script "right" for the sequel, there won't be any "Beverly Hills Cop 4."

"That movie has to be right. The third Beverly Hills Cop was garbage. Those movies, when I travel overseas, people say [in a foreign accent] "Hey, Beverly Hills Cop! Axel Foley!" They call me that ... All the movies I've done, and they call me that. If we do that movie, it has to be right. Not just thrown together to get a big check. I don't need anymore of those," the comedian said.

About the Beverly Hills Cop TV series, "The Nutty Professor" star revealed that he doesn't want to be in it in the first place but the showrunners wanted him to be in the pilot and even for a recurring role.

"I remember when they tested it — they had this little knob that you turn if you like it or you don't like it. So when Axel shows up in the pilot, some people turned the knob so much, they broke it. So the network decided 'if he isn't recurring, then this isn't gonna happen.' So it didn't happen," he revealed.

Playboy further asked the actor about his recent projects.

"I just finished a movie two weeks ago with the guy who directed Driving Miss Daisy, Bruce Beresford, called Cook. It's really serious and sad," Murphy said. "It's a true story and a really, really cool tearjerker."

According to IGN, "Beverly Hills Cop 4" is currently slated for a March 25, 2016 opening.
