Edith And Lady Mary To Meet Their New Loves In Next Episode Of 'Downton Abbey'

The ladies seem to be getting their lovelives on track in the final season of "Downton Abbey." The preview of the next episode shows that Lady Edith Crawley will be going on a date, but who is the mysterious date? It would seem to be Bertie Pelham and the setting for their date is London. Lady Mary goes to the race tracks to see the handsome Henry Talbot test drive a new car.

According to a spoiler report, in the teaser for Episode 5 next week of "Downton Abbey," the Earl of Grantham, played by Hugh Bonneville, says that Edith Crawley, played by Laura Carmichael, is going out on a date which, as is her wont, Edith immediately denied it.

But Edith may be coy or secretive as she does not want anyone to know of her plans. Last week, Bertie had called Edith out for a couple of drinks casually, but Edith, citing the reason that she had to complete editing her magazine, had cancelled the outing. Bertie seems to be trying to go on a date with Edith.

The ladies of Downton Abbey are moving ahead as the official synopsis states: "Violet invites the minister of health, to dine at Downton Abbey to quash plans for the takeover of the hospital. Mary and Tom go to watch Henry Talbot test drive a new car, but Mary is not convinced she has met her match. Edith has a date with Bertie Pelham in London. Mrs Hughes is finding it difficult to please Mr Carson and Mary senses she has been kept in the dark about a family secret."

Could it be that Edith finally finds a true lover in Bertie Pelham who seems quite fond of her?

Viewers will recall that when Bertie attended the grouse season in 1924, he says Edith can stand beside him while he is shooting. He asks Edith to dance with him afterwards after he sees that Edith has become tense after a talk with Tom.

The haughty Lady Mary seems to be rebuffing the dashing motor racing driver Henry Talbot, played by the handsome Matthew Goode. Once she told him, 'I hope you're boiling up to make a pass,' shutting the door on his face.

But she has thawed as she is on the race track this week to watch him drive a new car.
