El Chapo Guzman Wife Emma Coronel: Beauty Queen Rumored to Be With Sinaloa Cartel Drug Lord During Arrest (PHOTO)

El Chapo Guzman's wife, Emma Coronel is rumored to be hiding out with the Sinaloa drug cartel after her multibillionaire husband's arrest Saturday. Authorities managed to capture the Mexican drug lord at a party in Mazatlan after he eluded them at his main compound in Culiacan, but it is unknown if his 24-year-old beauty queen wife with whom he has two children was present during the arrest.

Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera, 56, was the head of the Sinaloa Cartel, the most powerful crime organization in Mexico and responsible for 25 percent of the drugs flowing into the U.S. from the country, according to a Forbes report. During his arrest at a party at a Mazatlan condominium, his wife Emma Coronel was present, but it is unknown whether she is arrested and her whereabouts have become the subject of rumors across Mexico.

"His beauty queen wife, Emma Coronel, was with him when the manhunt for one of the world's most wanted drug traffickers ended," the Associated Press reported.

Some speculate that the drug kingpin's third or fourth wife was arrested alongside her gangster husband, but authorities haven't released many details surrounding the joint Mexico-U.S. operation to capture him. Other outlets suggest that she could still be among the Sinoloa Cartel awaiting the return of El Chapo— he snuck out of his Culiacan hideout via a bathtub escape tunnel and in 2001, he escaped from prison in a laundry cart.

Guzman and Coronel met about six years after his escape in 2007. He helped young Emma win a local fair's beauty pageant in Durango, and from then it is said that he was smitten. They eventually wed when she turned 18 in an opulent ceremony. In 2011, El Chapo sent Coronel, an American citizen, to a Los Angeles hospital to deliver their twin girls, who now benefit from being American citizens as well.
