Elizabeth Berkley, 'Saved by the Bell' Star, Pregnant With First Child

Elizabeth Berkley, also known as Jessie Spano, is pregnant with her first child.

The star, married since 2003 to designer Greg Lauren, is thrilled to announce her first pregnancy.

"In life there are moments you cherish forever and this is one of them," she told People. "Greg and I are so excited to be expecting our first child this summer. We couldn't be more grateful and overjoyed."

Berkley became famous for her role as the studios Jessie Spano on the hit "Saved by the Bell." The show enjoyed much success from 1989 to 1993 and even spawned two made-for-TV movies and the follow-up series "Saved by the Bell: the College Years." She did not star in the college series but instead focused on the film industry.

Her first scene was in the controversial and much panned "Showgirls."

Fans were shocked to see the good girl go nude for the show, and Berkley was jeered for her decision. She followed that role up with a small part in the hit "The First Wives Club" with Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton and Bette Midler.

Since then, Berkley has had several guest appearances on hit TV shows, including "CSI: Miami," "NYPD Blue," and "Without a Trace." She has also starred in two Lifetime movies and was in talks to debut her own reality series in order to help teen girls with their self-esteem issues.

Unfortunately, the show never came to fruition, but Berkley has published a book, "Ask Elizabeth" which covers the same ground.

She and Lauren were married on Nov. 1, 2003 in Cabo San Lucas. According to one report, the couple hosted a three-day event at the Esperanza Resort before the marriage ceremony. The two met while enrolled in the same dance class; they shared their first dance as a married couple to the hit "Crazy for You."

Should Berkley need any parenting advice, she can turn to former co-star Tiffani-Amber Thiessen. Thiessen is the mother of 17-month-old daughter Harper Renn.
