Casey Anthony Update: Defense Shows Photos, Video of Caylee

Both Casey Anthony’s mother and brother delivered emotional testimonies Friday morning as they took the stand, with Cindy Anthony being called back after her revealing testimony on Thursday that she was the one who searched for chloroform and chlorophyll on her home computer.

Casey and her mother both cried in court today when defense attorney Jose Baez showed the jury a video of 2-year-old Caylee Anthony playing with her mom.

Cindy had earlier testified that a pair of shorts found near Caylee’s remains would not have fit her granddaughter. Baez displayed the video of Caylee on Friday in order to support those claims, stating that the toddler had been rapidly growing before the time of her death.

The defense outlined their case for Caylee’s accidental death by showing the court photos of Cindy with Caylee at their backyard swimming pool.

"Even at that point, [Caylee] could even climb into the pool," Cindy stated while looking at the photos, also admitting that the toddler was able to open a sliding glass door that led to the pool.

Casey’s mother testified that she and her husband, George, were always extra careful whenever Caylee would go swimming in their above-ground pool.

A removable plastic ladder at the side of the pool, which Cindy made sure was always left down, was found propped up on the day when defense claims Caylee accidentally drowned. The backyard gate was also open.

Baez questioned the witness on whether Caylee was anxious to get into the water ahead of her. She stated that for the most part, Caylee would wait but as she got older she became more anxious.

However, Cindy also said that they always made her wear a life jacket.

Casey’s brother, Lee Anthony, also took the stand today to testify about the stains found in the trunk of Casey’s Pontiac Sunfire.

On Thursday, Cindy Anthony testified that the Pontiac already had stains in it when she and her husband bought the car. She also stated that Lee had driven the car before Casey.

Lee confirmed that there were in fact stains prior to buying the car, casting doubt on the prosecution’s argument that the stains were caused by a body decomposing in the trunk.

Baez also questioned Lee on his feelings about Casey’s pregnancy with Caylee at the time. He became emotional recalling that his family excluded him from the pregnancy and shared that he did not go to the hospital when Caylee was born because he was upset and hurt.

The defense continues to poke holes in the prosecution’s claims as the trial moves forward. It claims Caylee accidentally drowned in the family’s pool on June 16, 2008.

Casey, 25, is charged with first-degree murder. The state believes that Casey suffocated her daughter, placed her in the trunk of her car, and dumped her body in her nearby woods. If convicted, the defendant could face the death penalty.
