Evangelical Missions Head Highlights 'Modern-Day Bible Stories'
A girl blind from birth is miraculously healed like the blind man in John 9. A pastor escapes from prison just as Apostle Peter did in Acts 12.
In the newly released book Hardship, Healing, and Hope: How God Still Moves in the Lives of His People, author Joseph Williams chronicles modern-day occurrences of Bible stories on topics such as miracles, persecution, and salvation.
"Take a journey around the world within the pages of this book and see how God weaves His story through people's lives, and in turn, uses their stories to teach us practical and spiritual lessons," states an excerpt highlighted on the back cover of the book.
Williams, who serves as CEO for the global missions and relief organization New Directions International, emphasizes that the book is not simply written as a "collection of incredible stories," which, he adds, was not God's purpose with the books of the Bible either.
"The stories were shared so that we would also consider the practical and spiritual applications that were presented," the author commented on his personal website. "Likewise, in God's ongoing story through the lives of His people down through the centuries, He has much for us to learn if we have an open mind and a willing heart."
Writing this book with "the masses" in mind, Williams attempts to engage both skeptics and unbelievers and inspire and motivate readers to appreciate the God who never changes, the One who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
The book has been endorsed by Promise Keepers President/CEO Tom Fortson and Director for Concerned Women for America's Beverly LaHaye Institute Janice Shaw Crouse among others.
Joseph Williams is the Chief Executive Officer of the New Directions International, a mission's organization founded in 1968 by his father Dr. J.L. Williams. Hardship, Healing, and Hope: How God Still Moves in the Lives of His People, released by VMI Publishers, was made available in bookstores starting May 1.
