'Fallout 4' 1.9 Update: Patch Goes Live on PS4 and Xbox One; Comes With PS4 Pro Support, PC Visual Upgrade

The anticipated Update 1.9 for "Fallout 4" has arrived for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and it comes with added support for the PS4 Pro console and visual improvements specifically for PC gamers.

Game Update 1.9 added a good amount of game enhancements, including a "Featured" category where mods can be found as well as an enhanced sorting of the game filters based on the Highest Rated and Most Favorited per day, week, month or all time. More game additions focused on getting efficient mods navigation were included in the patch. These include the modifications made on its dedicated browsing menu and details page.

In terms of game fixes, Patch 1.9 addresses "Fallout 4's" general performance and stability issues as well as a number of crashes gamers may have experienced when scanning through the Load Order menu. There have also been added improvements to mods reporting and the delivery of Bethesda.net error messages.

On the other hand, Bethesda updated the game to fit the capacity of the latest Sony console, the PS4 Pro. With the upgrade, the game will be able to natively run at 1440p resolution and have enhanced Godray effects and draw distance for trees, grass and other content such as non-playable characters.

Aside from the PS4 Pro support, "Fallout 4" Patch 1.9 brings in an upgrade for PC graphics through the High Resolution Texture Pack. The PC-specific update was released after realizing that a large number of gamers still play "Fallout 4" through Steam, according to Bethesda's official post.

The video game studio added, "Consider this free download a love letter to our amazing PC fans that have supported us – not just with Fallout 4, but across multiple decades and games."

Bethesda advised PC gamers to allot an additional 58 GB of free space on their rig to experience the maximum effect of the High Resolution Texture Pack. Added to the 58 GB allowance, the optimum results can be achieved with the required 64-bit operating system on Windows version 7 or later.

Other recommended specs for the PC visual upgrade are an Intel Core i7-5820K or better processing chips, a graphics processing unit as powerful as an 8GB GTX 1080, and an 8GB random access memory or more.
