As stories of the 70-plus people killed or injured during the Colorado movie theater shooting last week emerge, The Christian Post has learned of one survivor who was gravely wounded during the rampage and placed in a coma as a result. His wife, who gave birth to first child three days after the shooting, is now faced with a heavy financial burden and is asking the public for help.

Caleb Medley, a graduate from the Actors, Models & Talent for Christ program (AMTC) that helps young Christians develop their artistic talents, had decided that he and his wife, Katie, would go out one more night before their baby was due on July 22. They chose to see "The Dark Knight Rises" at the Century 16 movie theater in Aurora, on the fateful night a lone gunman opened fire inside the packed theater and killed 12 people.

Medley, who grew up in Denver, was shot in the eye. Although he survived, he has been placed in a medically-induced coma and has suffered brain damage. Katie Medley was unharmed, but now his family needs help in order to help pay for his medical bills.

"He was shot in the face. He was a performer of ours, he was a very gifted actor, and a standup comedian – he made our finale showcase of standup comedy," said Adam She, Director of Operations at AMTC, in a phone interview with The Christian Post. "He wasn't simply talented, he was loved by all those he came in contact with. He had a great spirit, and we thank God he is still alive, but he has a long journey ahead of him. Our focus is to let people know what's happening, so that we can help his family."

She confirmed that Medley's child was born on Monday and that the financial situation the family now finds themselves in is grim.

"Our vision at AMTC, in light of this incident, is even more important now. If we're living in the world and looking at media, He is looking at us. We see very clearly that man is bold in the entertainment industry, and in media – so we believe good must be bolder. Our motto and vision is to make good bolder in film, fashion, music and theater – in all of the areas of the performing arts," he shared about the organization.

A profile on Medley on the AMTC website details his comedy career, and has clips of some of his performances, as well as a link for those able to donate.

"Caleb, Katie and Baby Hugo need your help. They need your prayers and good thoughts but unfortunately, they will also need financial assistance. These are hard times for everyone, but if you are here; you are here because you are interested in what happened to Caleb. You are here because you have a good heart," an AMTC statement urges.

AMTC operated as a secular company until five years ago (it was previously called Actors, Models and Talent Competition), before its CEO decided became a Christian and change the company's approach to serve God.
