'Fast 9' Release Date News: Tyrese Gibson Takes Jab at Dwayne Johnson, Asks Him to Prioritize Next Installment Over Spinoff

The cast members of "Fast and Furious" are known to take jabs at one another publicly using social media. Recently, actors Dwayne Johnson and Tyrese Gibson, who are two of the biggest stars in the franchise, proved to be no exception.

A few days ago, Gibson took to Instagram to publicly ask his co-star Johnson to prioritize the ninth installment of "Fast and Furious" over the Hobbs spinoff movie. The said spinoff may also feature Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw.

On one of Johnson's recent Instagram posts, Gibson asked him to not move forward with the Hobbs spinoff, as it would only delay the production of "Fast and Furious 9."

"If you move forward with that #Hobbs movie you will have purposely ignored the heart to heart moment we had in my sprinter. I don't wanna hear from you until you remember what we talked about. I'm on your timeline cause you're not responding to my text messages... #FastFamily is just that a family... We don't fly solo," wrote Gibson in the post's comments section. However, this comment has since been deleted.

According to reports, Gibson's comment had a lot to do with Johnson's lack of enthusiasm when it comes to the ninth installment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise.

In another post, Gibson reiterated his plea to his co-star, saying he does not have any problems with Johnson's lineup of big movies because they were brothers. However, he said he was simply trying to reach out to the latter because the release date for "Fast and Furious 9" has already been announced and they cannot afford for anything to get in the way of its production and release.

"Didn't you see how HUGE #Fast8 was? It's because we announced and KEPT our release date bro," Gibson told Johnson in another post that has been deleted as well.

"Fast and Furious 9" is slated for release on April 19, 2019.
