'Fast and Furious 8' News: Who Will Replace Paul Walker in the Next Films?

While it was announced that Paul Walker's character, Brian O'Connor, will not be appearing anymore in the next "Fast and Furious" movie, fans wonder who will be there to replace the iconic character.

It was just last month that Ron Meyer, NBC Universal's vice chairman, confirmed that Paul Walker will not be featured anymore in the upcoming film of the "Fast and Furious" franchise, but he promised that Walker's presence will still be felt all throughout the series. "It will still be 'Fast and Furious,' it will just be without Paul," Meyer said during his interview with Variety.

For loyal fans, it is hard to accept that the movie is ready to move on without Walker, and some wonder who the rightful candidate is to fill in the big hole that the late actor left. A few names have been thrown into the betting pool, and it seems like Matt Damon is among one of the chosen to join the cast of "Fast and Furious 8."

During a press event in Los Angeles, California, Tyrese Gibson, one of the cast of the "Fast and Furious" films, said that he'd like to see either Denzel Washington or Brad Pitt join the cast. According to EconoTimes, the former-model-turned actor also responded quite positively when Matt Damon's star was mentioned among those actors who could possibly join the action-packed film.

The website said Gibson is already excited to work with the "Bourne" actor, and already has a great story in mind, should Damon sign for "Fast and Furious 8." According to Gibson, who is also celebrating his birthday today, Dec. 30, the story might revolve around Damon being his long lost foster brother whom he got separated from years ago.

However, the news about Damon joining the blockbuster movie franchise and the backstory that Gibson teased are still not confirmed, so fans just have to wait for more updates. There are still a lot of changes that can happen until "Fast and Furious 8" hits the big screen on April 14, 2017.
