A California man was shot multiple times by his own father over the singing of a country karaoke song.
William Oller Sr., 70, allegedly shot his son William Oller Jr., 50, over a karaoke machine, according to the Daily Mail.
Oller Jr. suffered gunshot wounds to his chest, arm, shoulder and also suffered a wound to the head from a scuffle with his father. Oller Sr., also suffered a shot to the leg.
"I can't believe he shot at me," Oller Jr. told paramedics.
Investigators say the confrontation between the two men started over a karaoke singing machine. According to TheSpec.com, Oller Sr. was visiting his son in his home and became annoyed at his karaoke singing Thursday afternoon.
Oller Jr. was singing country music on the karaoke machine, which drove the elder Oller into a rage.
According to an arrest warrant, Oller Sr. demanded that his son turn the machine off and even threatened to shut him up.
"I'm going to shut you up," Oller Sr. told his son.
After threatening his son, he ran outside to retrieve a .22 caliber handgun from his car. Oller Jr. followed him outside to calm his down, but retreated inside when his father pointed the semi-automatic weapon at him.
When he had reopened the door, his father was waiting for him on the porch with the gun in hand. Oller Sr., again, pointed the gun at his son, causing a scuffle that made the gun to off multiple times.
Oller Jr. was treated for non-life threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
His father appeared in court, facing attempted murder charges. He is still being held in custody in the Shasta County Jail with a $500,000 bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 14, according to redding.com.
John Kucera, Oller Jr.'s lawyer, said that his client does not want to see his father prosecuted.
