Kingdom Hearts 3 Release Date News: Final Fantasy XV Director Tetsuya Nomura Steps Down to Focus on Kingdom Hearts 3

The production team for Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV experienced a switch of directors recently. Tetsuya Nomura, who was serving as the FFXV's project director has stepped down from the position to focus on the development of the Kingdom Hearts 3.

Stepping up to fill the seat Nomura left would be Final Fantasy Type-0 and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VIII Director Hajime Tabata.

Nomura is known for his Final Fantasy character design and his work with the Kingdom Hearts series since hte game's original release. Apparently, the stepping down of Nomura as director of the FFXV project is part of a "development restructure" within the company.

"Currently, Tabata and the entire development team are working, whole-heartedly, towards completing the production of Final Fantasy XV and ensuring the delivery of the highest quality Final Fantasy title to date," Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda stated.

Apparently, Matsuda believes that Nomura should be working on the titles that he thinks is only made possible by his direction, according to reports.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is an upcoming action role-playing game developed by Square Enix. The game is going to be published by Disney Interactive Studios for the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One. There are no announced release dates yet but there are speculations that it will come out on 2015 or 2016. Fans don't need to worry as development was already confirmed during the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2013.

While Square Enix is nearing the release of its Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix, their workload is still split between the development of Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV. Both games are highly anticipated by fans and this puts immense pressure on the production team. Moreso, the last few Final Fantasy games weren't exactly stalwart and Square Enix is looking to make up for that with FFXV.
