First Exclusive Game for Apple Watch Revealed

The first game exclusive to the Apple Watch has recently been unveiled, even before the highly sought out wearable hits the shelves Friday. The Apple Watch is due out in retail stores on April 24, and already a new game has been released exclusive to the smartwatch.

Entitled "Watch Quest: Heroes of Time," the game has been created by a long-standing work-for-hire developer of interactive content WayForward Technologies.

The game is compatible with both the Apple Watch and iPhone line, and allows players to use their mobile as a kingdom hub and their wearable to choose their own hero, equip them with accessories, and guide them through their journey as they explore the land, battle monsters, solve puzzles and search for treasures.

The game is described as a hybrid of a light adventure RPG and a city builder game, with the majority of the action playable on the Apple Watch, and managing a kingdom and replenishing supplies taking place on the iPhone.

With the Apple Watch acting as a peripheral, and the iPhone as a re-supplier for the game, "Watch Quest: Heroes of Time" appears to be similar to the Dreamcast VMU as a peripheral to support games such as "Sonic Adventure."

Players can choose the Active or Passive play mode, the former allowing for more difficult quests which require active foraging, and the latter offering longer and simpler quests. In the Apple Watch, the game has been created to span several hours, and players will encounter familiar faces along the way, including a mash-up of heroes.

The adventure game, with one training quest, is free, with an option to acquire a DLC model with added characters and campaigns in Quest Packs that users can purchase via microtransactions on their iPhones.

"Watch Quest: Heroes of Time" is due out together with the Apple Watch at the end of the week.
