Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Fight News 2015: Boxer Posts Photo of Meeting, Says He Wants Fight

January has come and gone, and still, there is no final word whether the much-awaited fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will take place anytime this year.

Both fighters claim that they want the fight to happen, and that it's the other side that's causing major delays. Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has recently called out the lack of urgency in Mayweather's camp as the cause of delay, and even HBO has issued a statement that they are "not an impediment" to the fight and that they too, want this to happen, just like boxing fans all around the world.

Meanwhile, according to USA Today, Showtime Sports executive Stephen Espinoza confirmed last Thursday that there are still "significant issues" to be resolved.

"No contracts have been signed yet, we're still in the discussion stage," said Espinoza to USA Today. "A breakthrough could come any minute or it could take another week or two."

Amidst all these, Mayweather's camp blames Arum for holding things up, while Pacquiao reportedly has a backup plan in place just in case the fight does not push through.

Recently, Mayweather took to the photo sharing app Shots to insist that he remains in talks with Pacquiao over their fight. It is speculated that the photo was taken during the boxers' hour-long meeting at Pacquiao's hotel room after their initial exchange at the Miami Heat game a few weeks ago.

The picture shows Mayweather talking to the Filipino boxer. Mayweather captioned the photo, "I set up this meeting with Manny Pacquiao to get this fight done but they will continue to tell the public it's us (who are holding up the negotiations) and that's NOT TRUE."

If the mega fight between the two does not happen, Mayweather will likely face Miguel Cotto, while Pacquiao could face Amir Khan sometime in May.
