The official host of the 20th annual Christian gala awards event will be actor Dean Cain.

Cain will play the master of ceremonies at next year's Movieguide Faith & Values Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry. This event honors the previous year's most family-friendly and spiritually uplifting movies and TV shows.

Cain's most recognizable role can be traced back to his days of playing Superman. He played the iconic, comic book character for four separate seasons of the TV series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman."

Dr. Ted Baehr, publisher and editor-in-chief of the website Movieguide, spoke to Charisma News about Dean Cain and the importance of this awards show. "Dean Cain has one of the most faith-filled and blessed careers in the entertainment industry, so we are delighted that he will host," he said.

"Other awards shows just honor the most critically acclaimed movies and television programs. The Annual Faith & Values Awards Gala also honors those movies and television program that increase man's love and understanding of God and that promote the Good, the True and the Beautiful," said Baehr, also the founder of this gala and chairman of the Christian Film & Television Commission ministry.

Dr. Baehr uses the awards show to highlight Movieguide's in-depth analysis of the major movies released in theaters. This will be done in an effort to show entertainment industry leaders how beneficial and successful positive films are.
