CM Punk WWE News, Rumors: Former WWE Star to Write 2015 Thor Comic Series for Marvel

In an effort to bring Thor, the God of Thunder, in a new light this 2015, Marvel Comics is calling on the expertise of one person coming from the ring to write for their February "Thor Annual #1" series.

Just this Wednesday, Marvel.com announced that WWE wrestling superstar Phil Brooks a.k.a. CM Punk will be the first guest creator in the said superhero series. According to the website, Punk will team up with artist Rob Guillory, also a first timer to Marvel.

Recognizing the fact that he'd be doing a treatment for one of Marvel's "heavy hitters," Brooks shared some details on the project during an interview with Marvel.

"So the idea was, let's do a story about young Thor as kind of a brash, bratty teenager who's like, 'I'm totally worthy of this hammer. My dad's full of [expletive]. I don't know why I'm not 'worthy' of the hammer. Look at all this cool stuff I did.' And it's more or less like a drinking story," he said.

"He's gonna be sitting around with a few choice characters from the Marvel Universe, and they're all gonna be drinking, and Thor's gonna basically be complaining about essentially why his dad won't give him the keys to the car," the retired pro-wrestler added.

Marvel pressed on to ask about his thoughts of trudging on the path of "creative endeavor."

"You know, I think I'm more suited for it just because I've been reading comic books my entire life," he answered. "Wearing tights in front of thousands of people and kind of, almost play-acting, I think down the road, it might give me some sort of insight depending on what kind of characters I'm writing and what the story is, but I'm not really sure it prepared me so much for being able to script a comic book."

The fighter-entertainer meanwhile revealed his "ultimate" dream in joining the "House of Ideas."

"So everything I do for Marvel is going to be leading up to, 'Please just let me write my Punisher story,'" he said as he concluded the interview.
