The French Open 2013 continues Thursday with the Women's semi-finals. The first semi-final has seen Maria Sharapova defeat Victoria Azarenka in three sets, and the upcoming semi-final will see Serena Williams play Sara Errani to fight out for a place in the final. The match will start at about 12.30 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream (details below).
Earlier on Thursday Sharapova came through a stern test to reach her second consecutive French Open final. The reigning champion got off to a blistering start against Azarenka, winning the first set 6-1 in 28 minutes.
However, Azarenka is a fighter and she fought back to claim the second set 6-2. A brief rain delay then set in and when they returned a tightly fought final and third set went Sharapova's way, and the current champ won 6-4 to complete her 2-1 sets victory.
She will now move to the final at Roland Garros, and will await to see how she will meet.
Serena Williams will be the big favorite in the other semi final, however, although Errani is less established in obtaining Grand Slam titles, she did reach the final in 2012 where she lost to Maria Sharapova.
Errani will be hoping to take down the American favorite to claim her place in the final at Roland Garros for the second consecutive year. She will have to put in an immense performance to get past Willians though.
Serena will be desperate to win, and she has not won a French Open title since 2002, and has historically struggled in France.
This is also her first semi-final showing since 2003, and she will not want to waste this opportunity to make the final again.
