'Frozen 2': 'Frozen' Sequel Takes Backseat as Disney Prioritizes Other Films

Two years since Disney confirmed that "Frozen" will get a sequel, fans are still clueless as to when it is going to hit theaters. Recent reports suggest that since Disney's plate is currently full with its roster of upcoming films, "Frozen 2" won't arrive until 2019.

"Frozen" is Disney's highest-grossing animated film of all time and took two years to complete after it was given the green light. According to reports, the sequel is taking a while to develop since Disney currently does not have time to do it. As much as the studio wants to fast-track "Frozen 2's" production, its calendar is reportedly packed with movies slated for release in 2017 and 2018.

Following the recent success of "Beauty and the Beast," Disney is reportedly busy developing the live-action remake of "Mulan." The studio is also busy with some animated originals like "Coco and Gigantic," as well as the sequels of hit Disney films like "Wreck-It Ralph," "Cars" and "The Incredibles."

Since production for the upcoming film still seems too far off, fans should stay tuned for more updates from Disney. However, it is quite a relief knowing that Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel will both be back to lend their voices to Anna and Elsa in the sequel. Reports also suggest that Josh Gad will reprise his role as Olaf in the upcoming film.

Meanwhile, Bell recently sat down with Collider to talk about her new movie, "CHIPS." During the interview, Bell explained that Disney is not rushing to crank out a sequel to the first blockbuster film because it is not the studio's priority now. She also revealed that production hasn't started yet and that the writers are still putting the final touches on the script.

Some reports claim that "Frozen 2" will premiere in 2019. Without any official announcement from Disney, however, fans should take these reports with a grain of salt.
