'Full House' to Get Its Own Lifetime Movie

Lifetime is making an unauthorized movie for "Full House" to follow its "Unauthorized Saved By The Bell," presentation.

After its "Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story," The Lifetime Channel has moved to make the "Unauthorized Full House Story," the working title for its new project.

The cable network has already greenlit production for the sitcom adaptation, and will take a closer look at how the cast for one of television's most beloved family series rose to fame, and how they handled the pressure of maintaining a perfect family life on the comedy show while dealing with their real one outside it.

"Full House," which ran on ABC for eight seasons from 1987 to 1995, starred John Stamos, Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, Candace Cameron, Jodie Sweetin, Lori Loughlin, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

The original plot revolved around a recent widower (Saget) who ropes in his brother-in-law (Stamos) and best friend (Coulier) to help race his three daughters (Cameron, Sweetin and the Olsen twins). Over time, the unconventional family grew closer towards one another amid numerous adventures and misadventures.

While the new Lifetime TV movie's air date has yet to be announced, the telepic will be penned by Ron McGee, who also wrote the script for Lifetime's "Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story." The telepic will be produced by Front Street Pictures and Ringaling Productions, together with Stephen Bulka, and Harvey Kahn as executive producers.

After "Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story" fell flat last year with only 1.6 million total viewers, and was slammed due to its poor script and poor acting, Lifetime has coincided their announcement of their "Unauthorized Full House Story" with the revival of the comedy sitcom, which was taken up by Netflix this month in a remake titled "Fuller House," and set to star members of the original cast, Candace Cameron-Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber.

"Fuller House" has been given the go-signal for a 13-episode spinoff series, which was confirmed by John Stamos in April 20 on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
