Fusion Conference Invites 20-30 Year-olds to Live Out Faith

On Nov. 13, people in their 20s and 30s who are seeking out ways to integrate their life and faith won’t have to go far to search for opportunities because over 60 international ministries and 100 Texas churches put them at their fingertips during the Fusion+Dallas conference.

More than 1,600 have registered for the conference, reported the Associated Press. The conference is sponsored by Rightnow.org, a website which lists over 3,000 mission opportunities.

According to national telephone polls conducted by Barna Research Group, people in their 20s are the least likely of any age group to be involved in church or read the Bible.

"A lot of people would say the church is losing out on a generation,” said Rightnow.org’s founder Marc McCartney in an Associated Press article.

"But what we're focusing on more is the fact that there are a ton of 20- and 30-somethings that are passionate about God, but not acting out their faith. They're only giving half and we're calling on them to give it all."

Organizers hope the conference will also be held in other cities besides Dallas.

Bill McCartney, former coach and founder of Promise Keepers, will be one of the speakers at the event. He suggested young people needed to be encouraged to participate in living out their faith instead of sitting on the sidelines.

"What I see is potential on the sidelines," he told the Associated Press. "When I was coaching, I used to tell players, 'If your attitude is right, then you are saying, coach me, take me beyond myself.' That's where young adults are today. They need someone to call them out — to get them involved."
