Galaxy Nexus Release Date Rumored for April 22 on Sprint

Sprint's version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus could launch as early as April 22, according to a leaked memo recently posted on BGR.

Many news outlets have reported other information leaks that point to this same release date for the device that debuted on Verizon at the end of last year.

"There have been a good amount of leaks already pointing to an April 22 launch date, and now we have two more leaks from two different publications," wrote 9to5 Google.

Android Police also posted a leaked memo from Best Buy that suggested that Sprint's Galaxy Nexus would be released on that date.

Coincidentally, this is the same day another LTE device known as the LG Viper 4G LTE is scheduled to launch on the carrier.

It would be good marketing for Sprint to release two of its first LTE devices on the same day giving its new network a significant push.

Rumors of the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus began to surface at the beginning of this year.

Specifications on the carrier's version will remain the same; however its version will include Google Wallet, a feature that does not appear on the Verizon model.

The Galaxy Nexus originally launched in November of last year and was labeled "the greatest Android device to be released thus far," by tech site The Verge.

The device features a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display that is 1280 x 720 pixels, 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM for increased speed, a dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU, a 5-megapixel rear camera, NFC (near-field communications), and 4G LTE connectivity.

Samsung and Google first unveiled it at a media event titled "Mobile Unpacked" last October.

It is the first device to come with Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed and has been available in the U.S. as a Verizon exclusive since December.
