Galaxy S4 Software Update Now Rolling Out for Verizon

A software update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 is now rolling out for Verizon customers.

The new build is labeled VRUEMK2 and is said to make the device work better with chargers not made by Samsung. Other changes include improved email connectivity and data connections when using proxy servers along with consistent data roaming in Canada and Mexico. Verizon users should begin receiving notifications to download the update soon. Those who do not get the automatic notifications should perform the update manually in the Settings menu.

The last major software update for the Galaxy S4 was Android 4.3, JellyBean which brought several changes to the device including a Samsung Knox security update, enhanced multi-window mode, improved camera features, bug fixes and general performance enhancements.

It also gives the handset a new lockscreen with multiple widgets, adjustable clock size, actionable notifications, and daydream mode.

Users will also be able to move apps to the SD card and will have new screen modes such as Adapt Display and Professional Photo. TRIM support will be added to improve performance along with Galaxy Gear support, Driving Mode, voice commands and Samsung KNOX compatibility.

Despite other carriers having issues with the software's rollout, T-Mobile users seemed to experience no issues with it. Many of them began rushing out the Android 4.3 update recently in order to make them compatible with the Galaxy Gear.

The update rolled out for AT&T customers a bit earlier in the year and was pulled the following week due to bugs and problems users were reporting. The carrier reissued the update shortly after and seems to have corrected some of the issues. It also rolled out a minor update last week that finished working the bugs out of the system.
