Galaxy S5 Rumors: New Concept Displays All Metal Exterior Similar to HTC One

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to launch at the beginning of next year and various designers have already created concepts for the handset.

Hasan Kaymak of Concept Phones normally draws up concept art for HTC devices, but now took on the task of showing what the Galaxy S5 could look like. The designer created a version of the Samsung device with an all-metal exterior that is similar to the HTC One. It also has a large edge-to-edge display of unspecified size, dual front speakers, a slim physical home button, a large camera on the curved back, and a new microUSB reversible connector. See pictures here.

Kayak also re-imagined TouchWiz for this concept device having it run Android 4.4 KitKat together with the UI. The lock screen would not show a notifications bar and would instead have them appear under the picture of the user. The notifications would be interactive.

A top to bottom swipe brings up the notifications bar in the concept and a click on the right side of the settings panel will expand the settings options. Support for voice-based commands are also hinted at in some of the concept images.

Concepts basically function as artists' ideas of what a handset could look like based on recent rumors. All of this information should be taken with a grain of salt as Samsung has not officially confirmed any specs or features for the Galaxy S5 at this time.

Some of the Samsung Galaxy S5 features could have been revealed in a recent report.

Displays that measure in at 5.25-inches are now being mass produced by Samsung in preparation for the launch of its new flagship handset, according to DDaily. The publication claims that the new device will come with a 5.25-inch AMOLED display tht will pack WQHD resolution, or 2560x1440 at 560 ppi.
