'Game of Thrones' Cast News, Update: Danish Actor Casts as the One-Eyed Captain of the Silence

A new casting update published right over at fansite WatchersOnTheWall.com (via TVLine) pointed out to the casting of Danish actor Pilou Asbaek who will portray the role of Euron Greyjoy in the upcoming sixth season of HBO's hit fantasy drama TV series, "Game of Thrones."

As divulged further by the website, the "Borgias" star will debut in the series as the uncle of Theon/Reek Greyjoy (Alfie Allen). Followers of George R.R. Martin's novel series "A Song of Ice and Fire" to which the massively-popular series was based from may know that Euron is the one-eyed captain of the Silence.

The ship was named accordingly because its entire crew had their tongues getting cut off. They were also known for infamous acts of raping women as well as plundering places they could go to.

WOTW went on to cite their sources telling them that the show's cast has been spotted filming around Ballintoy Harbour. They were shooting a scene where Euron (Asbaek) is surrounded by a cheering crowd.

Website HuffingtonPost.com went on to explain the presence of Euron. As stated, the ruthless Greyjoy will be replacing Theon's dad, Balon, who is supposedly dead if the source materials are to be referenced.

Still taking hints from the books, HP went on to say that a certain Red Priest named Moqorro prophesized the coming of Euron who will claim the leadership among the ironborn as well as threaten the might of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

The Priest particularly saw a shadow rising from the flames which is a "tall and twisted thing with one black eye and ten long arms, sailing on a sea of blood."

In connection to the Ironborn storyline, it has also been said over at VanityFair.com that actress Gemma Whelan is joining Season 6. Her involvement would further explore the book 4 plot commonly referred to as the Kingsmoot.

"Game of Thrones" Season 6 premieres 2016 on HBO. Stay tuned for more updates.
