Gaming news: New games for September 22, 2015, including Soma as it comes to PS4

Pushing the human mind several steps to its breaking point, "Soma" brings horror to players this week as they indulge in a puzzle of deep and twisted thoughts, and weird creatures.

Gamers fond of first-person horror storytelling would surely feel right at home with a PS4 game that binds the human mind and an artificial one to a world of sci-fi that tackles nothing but the extremes.

While Japanese samurais are very much lauded worldwide, the birth of Kuma on PS4 will create history in a journey of redemption and revenge. In "Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma Volume 1," Afro is giving the stage to one of his closest childhood's friends.

Test the mind's memory and knack for questions in "Battle Trivia Knockout," where a player can battle it out head-to-head with others in a fast-paced trivia action game. The "Trivia Sensei" gives out about 1,000 questions that can be seen on screen.

Coming to PS4, "Blood Bowl II," adapted from Games Workshop's famous board game, creates a mashup of Warhammer and American football in one. Players are indulged in turn-based strategy fights, and humor balanced with brutality.

Releasing on PS4 and PS3, "Extreme Exorcism" takes on the character of Mae Barrons, an Extreme Exorcist who uses extreme measures. She is tasked to extinguish a haunted house's ghosts when everything and everyone else fails.

Players who enjoy twists and turns should try out "Heroes of Loot" (PS Vita) — a game that combines twin-stick shooters and rogue-like features crawling around dungeons. The dungeons are flooded with ghosts, skulls, cyclops, and many more, for additional horrifying fun.

Also this week, PlayStation launches "Laserlife" (PS4), the interactive biography of a dead astronaut who is discovered floating in deep space by future intelligences who have no concept of humankind just yet.

Other games coming out this week include: "LEGO Jurassic World - Demo" (PS4, PS3), "Mahjong Carnival" (PS Vita), "Penarium - + Trial" (PS4), "Pumped BMX+" (PS4), "Puzzle Star Sweep" (PS1 Classic), "Racing" (PS1 Classic), "Rally Copters" (PS4, PS Vita), "Skylanders Superchargers" (PS4, PS3), "EA Sports FIFA 16" (PS4, PS3), and "Arcade Archives Mr. Goemon" (PS4).
