'General Hospital' spoilers: Michael Muhney lined up to join cast

"General Hospital" has an undeniablly huge cast for a daytime soap opera. There is recent news of cast downsizing as head writer Ron Carlivati is no longer part of the series. This left fans to wonder as to who will be the next to leave the show. Apparently, the rumor could not be any more further from the truth as the show has just released a casting call for a new handsome male character named Ash.

According to Celebrity Laundry, the rumored actor to take on the role is Michael Muhney. The assumption came from the fact that Muhney had a meeting with ABC executives last year about a possible role. He denied later on that he was offered a role, but fans remained positive that he would be joining ABC's daytime drama. The new character Ash is described to be mid-30s, handsome, intelligent, and very charming, which is why many feel Muhney would fit perfectly into the role.

Muhney has been in a number of TV shows before. He is best known for being sheriff Don Lamb on "Veronica Mars," as well as Adam Newman on "The Young and the Restless." He would definitely be a great addition to the cast, since his great acting skills and huge fan base can help the show's ratings.

Another role that viewers think Muhney could be taking on would be the character of Lucky Spencer. Although there is a smaller chance for this, casting directors have expressed before that they were searching for someone who can fit in the role. The show will need to give Elizabeth Webber, played by Rebecca Herbst, a new love interest, especially once revelations unravel.

The reason for the fans' blatant disregard for Muhney's denial statement stems from the same experience they had with Michelle Stanford. The actress, who now plays Nina on the soap, had also continuously denied signing on for the show until it was confirmed only a few weeks before.

General Hospital airs on ABC, Mondays to Fridays.
