George P. Bush has raised eyebrows and hopes by filing preliminary paperwork required of anyone wanting to run for office in the state of Texas. The younger Bush filled out an "appointment of a campaign treasurer by a candidate" form, though it's unknown what office Bush is seeking.

Bush has a family history of political engagement, with his father being former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and his uncle and grandfather both holding the title of President of the United States. This would mark the first election for Bush, who is only 36.

He currently works as a partner in Pennybacker Capital in Austin, Texas but has remained active in the political scene, co-founding the Hispanic Republicans of Texas Political Action Committee. Bush, whose mother was Mexican, has had a large influence on the Hispanic Republicans, which could help him in the pursuit of office.

Bush defines himself as a moderate, a "George W. Bush Republican," to be exact, reported The Tribune.** When told he was one of the GOP's rising Latino stars, Bush told The Tribune that "politics is in his blood."

One issue important to Texans is that of immigration, and Bush has made no qualms about where he stands on that. The country, he said, should "figure out a way where [people here illegally] can be taken out of the shadows and contribute to society and provide an opportunity to contribute and pay their fair share."

Not only does Bush have a law degree as well as business experience, he also served in the Navy. According to Fox News, Bush served for six months in Afghanistan under an alias. The decision to give him a different name was for his own protection, given that the Bush family has held such power in the U.S.
