Google Nexus 6 vs Samsung Galaxy S6: Comparison of Features, Specs

The Samsung Galaxy 6 is coming out in the market in a matter of weeks, and many who are waiting to get their hands on Samsung's latest flagship know that so far, this is the Korean company's most beautifully designed handset to date, with its all metal body and top of the line specs. But how will it do when compared to the Google Nexus 6?

Google's supersized smartphone has been getting rave reviews since it was launched last year, with its big screen and powerful specs. Though the phone is a few months older than devices launched at this year's CES and MWC, it can still hold its own in the ultra-competitive smartphone arena.

Here, we compare the Google Nexus 6 with the Samsung Galaxy S6:

Design:
The Galaxy S6 has a glass and metal build and has a more premium feel than its predecessors. The phone has rounded tops and bottoms and straight sides, and it measures 5.6.x 2.8 x 0.27 inches and weighs 4.9 ounces. The phone is available in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, and Blue Topaz.

The Nexus 6 has a gently curved silver aluminium frame with a smooth, matte plastic rear. The phone measures 6.27 x 3.27 x 0.40 inches and is quite hefty as it weighs 6.49 ounces. The handset is available in Midnight Blue and White.

Features:
Though both phones' displays have a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, the difference in screen size means a big difference in pixel density. The Samsung phone has a 5.1-inche Super AMOLED display which translates to pixel density of 577ppi, while the Nexus 6 has a 6-inch AMOLED screen with a pixel density count of 493ppi.

The Google Nexus 6 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor, while the Galaxy S6 has the Exynos 7 octa-core chip set. Both phones run on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The Samsung phone has the better cameras as it's equipped with a 16MP rear camera and 5MP front camera, while the Google device has a 13MP rear camera and 2MP front camera.

The Galaxy S6 is available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB models, and the phone's memory cannot be expanded due to the lack of a microSD card slot. The Nexus 6 comes at 32GB and 64GB models.

Price:
The Samsung Galaxy S6 will go on sale by April 2015 and is expected to cost $855 for the 32GB model, $970 for the 64GB variant, and $1,085 for the 128GB model. Meanwhile, the Nexus 6 costs $750 for the 32GB model and $820 for the 64GB model.
