Google Nexus 8 Release Date, HTC to Make the Tablet?

Google looks set to release their next tablet soon, the Nexus 8. The new tablet will be running on the latest Android L OS and will be the successor to the highly popular Nexus 7.

It is still unclear when the Google tablet will be released but current rumor trends point out to an October release or maybe a November release. There are speculations that the tablet will be released right after Android L.

Being a successor to one of the best tablets in the market, the Nexus 8 will likely be more expensive than the Nexus 7. Market trends point to the Nexus 8 going around the $400 mark but might go lower, as Google usually undercuts its competition by selling their hardware at a lower market price and getting their profits from add-ons and software purchases.

Google is said to move on from the 7-inch offering of the previous Nexus 7 tablet and go through with an 8-inch Nexus 8. This would then put the next Google tablet in direct competition with the iPad Mini, the LG G Pad 8.3, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0.

The only unknown factor is which manufacturer will be creating the Nexus 8? There have been speculations that HTC will be the one in charge of manufacturing the Google tablet as hints about the company developing a new device was announced sometime earlier this year.

Google is also said to ditch Qualcomm's processor chips and move to Intel's Moorefield chips which have a 2.33GHz processing speed and features a PowerVR G6430 graphics processor.
