Google Nexus Prime Release Date: 'Galaxy Nexus' Will Ship in November

Samsung together with Google hosted the “Mobile Unpacked” event where they announced that the upcoming Galaxy Nexus smartphone will be available in November.

They also confirmed the smartphone's official name as the Galaxy Nexus.

The new device will sport impressive specs including a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display and a 5 megapixel camera capable of filming in 1080p HD.

It will also be the first device to run on Google’s new Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

The Galaxy Nexus will feature a unique curved design with a slip resistant hyper-skin backing.

It will also include NFC (Near Field Communications), and perform on LTE networks and possibly HSPA+, according to the demand for the smartphone.

The recent rumors pointed to the Galaxy Nexus having a 720p display, an 8 megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording, an NFC (Near Field Communications) chip and possibly LTE radios.

The Galaxy Nexus smartphone was expected to debut at Samsung’s “Mobile Unpacked” event earlier this month, but the event was pushed back out of respect for Steve Jobs after he passed away on Oct. 5.

Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich OS was also rumored to be unveiled at the event.

A video leaked recently of a Samsung Galaxy S2 running Ice Cream Sandwich, but this was later found to be fake.

The Galaxy Nexus will also go head to head with Apple’s extremely successful iPhone 4S.

The new iPhone has already sold 4 million units more than doubling the sales of the previous Apple smartphone, the iPhone 4.

Samsung’s Galaxy S2 seemed to fare well against the iPhone 4, but is no match for the iPhone 4S which includes impressive new features like Siri.

The new Nexus phone will be powerful enough to give the new iPhone a run for its money.
