The Google Search app for the Android 4.1, JellyBean platform received an upgrade this week that allows the service to perform new tasks.

The service can now search for movie showtimes and can receive important emergency alerts for storms and other natural disasters.

Users can also set their favorite sports teams from a list of 140 to get the latest scores with the update as well. Korean users also now have access to the service in their own language, which was previously not available.

Android 4.1, JellyBean is available on devices such as the Google Nexus 7 tablet and will be coming to the Samsung Galaxy S3 in the near future.

Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Note 2 at its "Unpacked" event yesterday in Berlin. The successor to the wildly successful smartphone-tablet hybrid will also run on the latest Android software when it is released.

The Galaxy Note 2 matches up to some of the rumors as it features a thinner 9.4mm frame with a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display.

The company spent most of its presentation of the device on its redesigned S Pen that comes with some new and exciting features. It now sports a better grip and a rubber tip, and when it is pulled out of its holder, a contextual page pops up asking the user what tasks they would like to perform with the stylus.

The new Note also features "Air View," which is accessible in many apps and gives the user a preview of their videos or photos when they are hovered over with the S Pen.

Commands can also be issued using the S Pen by holding its button and drawing a line. Email accounts could be accessed for specific people when the user jots down a name.
