GoPro Hero 5 News: Next Flagship Camera Expected to Have 8K Display, Enhanced Waterproof Capability

GoPro is set to release its next flagship camera next year, and the Hero 5 is expected to include a lot of improvements, including 8K display and better waterproof capability.

The GoPro Hero 5 is expected to be able to withstand being submerged in up to 60 meters of water with its improved waterproofing capability. Sports camera fanatics also would be delighted if the upcoming device will have 8K resolution because this feature would result in smoother-looking videos, according to the Venture Capital Post.

There are also some rumors saying the GoPro Hero 5 will be able to capture videos at a rate of 60 frames per second (fps). Plus, reports have come up saying the new flagship camera will run the A10 chip and will have dual lens for improved 3D photo and video recording, the report details.

Another good news for GoPro Hero 5 fans is that the new sports camera will be a lot lighter and smaller than its predecessor, as its size and weight will be cut down by almost half. This modification makes it easier for users to attach the device to helmet mounts or other surfaces, the Master Herald reports.

As mentioned earlier, the GoPro Hero 5 will be able to function up to 60 meters underwater. In addition, the upcoming camera will come with a dive housing to help users carry it in a more convenient manner.

The GoPro Hero 5 will reportedly come with a price tag of $550. While this is more expensive compared to the previous models, the rumored specs and features of the upcoming device might just justify the price jump, the report explains.

The GoPro Hero 5 is rumored to come out early 2016, but the exact release date is still unconfirmed. There are some that say the end of 2015 is the perfect time for GoPro to release its next flagship sports camera, but surely the company has its own reasons for waiting until next year, or they might be gearing up for something big.
