'Gotham' Season 2 Cast News: Cameron Monaghan Teases Joker Role on Social Media
More hints of the Joker coming over to the second season of Fox's hit action TV drama series "Gotham," surfaced this week as Season 1 cast member Cameron Monaghan teased the character on his social media.
Monaghan's Instagram account was spotted with a photo of himself donning the recognizable sinister smile of the Clown Prince of Crime.
The black-and-white photo showed the young actor standing on what appears to be for a police precinct mugshot. He spreads his arms wide open and flashes a terrifying grin across his face. His caption only reads: "#gotham" and despite the pleadings of his fans to tell more about the photo, he remains mum.
Monaghan first appeared back in Season 1 in which he portrayed the role of a character named "Jerome." His brief involvement sparked many speculations that he could really be the Dark Knight's future nemesis.
In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Bruno Heller revealed that the upcoming chapter would delve heavily into the Joker's origins.
"We're going to find out how the hell Jerome, the proto-Joker we met earlier in this season, connects with the Joker as people known him. That's the big focus of the beginning of the second season. We're going to tell the story of how the Joker came to be," the executive producer said back in May.
The cast and crew of "Gotham" are slated to appear on its Comic-Con panel this Saturday, July 11, and it is expected that more information will be shed as to what's in store for Season 2.
