'Gotham' Season 2 Cast News, Update: Fox Confirms Iconic Batman Villain, Morena Baccarin Promoted to Series Regular

Fox's hit crime-fighting TV drama series "Gotham" Season 1 ended up last week but fans of the show are already excited for what's coming next when it returns for its brand new sophomore season. Here's what we heard.

A report from Cinema Blend offers some updates indicating that the executives from the network have already confirmed the coming of Mr. Freeze in Season 2. He will be joined by The Joker whom executive producer Bruno Heller said will "kick the storyline off next season."

Dr. Victor Fries a.k.a. Mr. Freeze was a cryogenics scientist whose life was rather tragic after he failed to cure his terminally ill wife Nora.

It remains to be seen as to how the DC TV show will adapt the ice-blaster villain. According to the publication, he could either follow his origin story from the comics or he will start as someone working in a "meat locker" or better yet, an "ice sculptor."

Nevertheless, the Batman origin TV series will most likely focus on the character's personality and situation.

Fans should also be looking forward to for the rise of The Riddler, who started from being the nerd and often bullied, forensic scientist Edward Nygma (played by Cory Michael Smith).

Speaking of forensic science, actress Morena Baccarin, the actress who portrayed GCPD's Dr. Leslie Thompkins is now promoted to series regular for Season 2.

Her character first joined the show in January where she was featured as an attending medical professional at Arkham Asylum.

"Gotham" is expected to return to the small screen on its Monday night schedule this fall.

Stay tuned for more updates.
