'Gotham' Season 2 Cast News, Update: Lucius Fox Actor Promoted to Series Regular

Another exciting update concerning the growing cast list of Fox's hit Batman-origin TV drama series "Gotham" has trickled down online this week.

A report from Screen Rant said that actor Chris Chalk is now upped for a series regular standing in the said scripted program. Chalk, who debuted on the show towards the show's season finale, plays the character Lucius Fox -- Wayne Enterprises' junior executive and resident genius.

Fox's introduction in the series was rather interesting. It appears that he holds some knowledge about the company's founder, Thomas Wayne. This bit of information triggered the young Bruce (David Mazouz) to search further about his family's secret. This eventually led him to discover the hidden "batcave."

"[Lucius] becomes another person who's going to help Bruce on his journey to find out what happened to his parents and what his parents were doing, and also his journey to manhood and Batman-hood. [Adult Bruce is] like a science genius, and some of that's going to come from Lucius Fox," executive producer John Stephens told TV Line.

Chalk's regularization comes after the news of Nicholas D'Agosto also getting promoted to play his role as the fearless Assistant District Attorney, Harvey Dent.

Additionally, the next installment of the DC TV show will see a slew of supervillains coming over to the titular city. Among those mentioned are Mr. Freeze, Clayface, and two yet-to-be-revealed unknown villains.

The show basically follows the path of Bruce on his path to becoming the Dark Knight as well as the mission of GCPD's Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) to clear the city of corruption and crime.

"Gotham" Season 2 is slated to premiere in Fall 2015.
